AU/NZ: Conference to address global food safety advances
The Fresh Produce Safety Centre is delighted that Dr Trevor Suslow will be delivering the keynote address at this year’s Fresh Produce Safety Conference on 10 August in Sydney.
‘With the conference focusing on innovation in fresh food safety, Dr Suslow’s address on Global technology advances in food safety will give the audience a world view on what is new and on the horizon that could benefit their business,’ said FPSC Chair, Michael Worthington.
Trevor Suslow, an Extension Research Specialist at the University of California, Davis, has statewide responsibilities in quality and safety of perishable horticultural commodities. His program spans preharvest to postharvest research and outreach education on diverse fresh and minimally-processed horticultural foods—from annual row crops to tree and vine commodities. He recently accepted appointment as the faculty Director for the UC Postharvest Technology Center located on the Davis campus.
Dr Suslow’s research combines laboratory and on-farm/packing facility research on E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria in conventional and organic production systems, for the purpose of identifying opportunities for optimal microbial reductions and delivery of safe food to the consumer.
Trevor has served on the Center for Produce Safety (CPS) Board of Directors and Technical Committee since its creation in 2008. The Fresh Produce Safety Centre is affiliated with CPS as part of its wide engagement with fresh produce safety organisations.
Dr Suslow was named on the Food Safety News list of The Best of Food Safety in Education and received The Packer 25 Profiles in Leadership Award. He is a member of the FSMA Produce Safety Alliance Steering Committee and a Lead Trainer in the PSA, Preventive Controls Alliance, and Sprout Safety Alliance.
